It was turbulent season with many strong team performances, although ultimately a lack of quality in the depth of squad was more than evident in the later stages of the competition. The trial was much more successful than the previous year and was more productive in terms of squad selection. Harrogate/ Craven and Hambleton/ Richmondshire came to the trial with two strong teams and this was evident in those that were selected. After a nervy opening game, the team went onto produce two very good team performances against Cumbria and Cleveland. Unfortunately, this couldn’t be followed up in the remaining fixtures where the season faulted and some squad players lacked the commitment necessary for county football. I would personally like to thank the players from Thirsk, Richmond and Ermysteds school who all showed superb attitude and commitments throughout the season even under tough circumstances.
